As a long term, contrarian investor, I am convinced current market conditions provide an exceptional value opportunity in the resources sector whether or not we have seen the absolute bottom of the cycle yet.

For the past 7+ years, I have been working in the city as a mining analyst and that means I have not been allowed to invest at all in the sector – in retrospect a bit of luck. However, now self-employed, I feel the timing is opportune and have decided to liquidate £100,000 of my savings and put it all into the resources sector with the aim of doubling my money over the next 2 years.

And in hopes of encouraging dialogue with like-minded investors I will be posting regular updates on my progress – the value and contents of the portfolio, what I’m buying or selling and why, and my thoughts on the sector more generally.
